Caring for our Community

Supporting Edmonton's Food Bank

We asked the people of our organization to choose a charity that we could support throughout the year, and the overwhelming vote went to Edmonton's Food Bank—an organization that supports thousands of people every month by providing food, hot meals and snacks.

During the Christmas season, we also challenge each other to bring in most-wanted food bank items. We are overwhelmed by the response of our APS teams, annually providing more than three additional truckloads of food for this worthwhile community organization.

Our Environment

APS cares about our environment. A number of our programs ensure we enable one another to do our part to make the world a healthier place to live, work and play. Our evolving remote-work program has reduced our carbon footprint. Some of our positions are now remote only, while others are a hybrid of remote/office.

In addition to bottle/can/household recycling stations and confidential recycling bins, our building takes advantage of geothermal heating, and we use a rainwater collection system to water the shrubs and trees located around the building. We also encourage the use of digital documents to reduce paper usage, and we support carpooling and transit use (through our ETS@Work program).

Canadian Blood Services

APS is a proud member of Canadian Blood Services’ Partner for Life program. Since joining in the fall of 2014, APS’ blood donations have helped change the lives of nearly 1,000 people.

Corporate Challenge

APS participates in the Edmonton and area Corporate Challenge. We are proud to have finished first in 2019 and second in 2021. Corporate Challenge is a fun opportunity for our staff to connect with other organizations in our community, and it also enables us to give back to our community with the Blood Donor challenge; Ride for Heart, supporting the Heart and Stroke Foundation; and Extra Life, supporting Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
